"God has called us to leave our lives in the slums and to taste and see the goodness of the King of Kings. We are crowned and we are worthy, by the grace of God, and it is our privilege to reflect the crown we wear and learn to walk confidently in our new glass slippers. And us girls, we want to look good in our new shoes!"
-- Kristen Carr, Women's Banquet, Burnt Hickory, NC
As a pastors daughter, Kristen has long been acquainted with the world of ministry -- good and bad. This insiders veiw has given her a fresh perspective on the needs of both girls and women in the church. Relevant and practical would be good descriptions of her approach to teaching the precepts and principles of God's word.
In 2001, Kristen surrendered to full time ministry and followed the Lord's leading in serving in the student ministries at First Baptist Middleburg, Fl, and Bearean Baptist in Palataka, FL.
In the spring of 2004, the executive pastor at First Baptist Atlanta, GA asked Kristen to consider beginning a Girls Ministry with in the Student Ministry at First Atlanta. After some serious prayer, she agreed. At this time, Girls Ministry (ministry designed specifically for teen girls, ages 12-18) was a brand new concept that only a few churches across America were willing to forge. So, during those early months, Kristen sought fervently the throne room of God, asking for wisdom and instruction on how to build an effective ministry to teen girls. God faithfully downloaded a beautiful framework for doing just that. This framework, built with three main tenants: discipleship, fellowship and evangelism, became the building blocks Kristen needed to lead a thriving girls ministry at First Atlanta for the next six years.
In 2010, Kristen and her Husband Richard Carr followed the Lord's leading to Copperfield Church in Houston, TX, where they and their little girl Bella Tate Carr now live. Richard is Copperfield Church's Worship Arts Pastor and Kristen serves on the staff of a not for profit called Not For Sale, which works to end Human Trafficking through education and advocacy.
Kristen has authored two discipleship-based Bible studies for teen girls one called Undercover Princess, which has been published in Russia and the Ukraine, and the second called Learning to Walk in Glass Slippers. She also had the privilege of writing a chapter on "Mentoring Teen Girls" in the book The Green House Project: Cultivating Students of Influance.
Kristen is very passionate about our Savior and His Word, which is evidenced in both her ministry and her daily walk. She has spoken about God’s truth at girls retreats, women's ministry events, student ministry conferances as well as a wide arrange of other venues, both in the United States and over seas.
Recently, Kristen agreed to begin traveling and speaking with a Girls Ministry called SAGE.
